Job seekers beware of spams, scams, and schemes

The current economic environment certainly impacts six-figure Canadians who are in career transition. These days, job seekers are becoming increasingly concerned about finding and retaining meaningful, long-term opportunities in good companies. To add to the uncertainty, there seems to be a regular onslaught of news about unethical, immoral, and dishonest business practices.
As an advocate for ethics and integrity in the Canadian labour market, I have been monitoring some disturbing trends. Though it is clear that honesty and ethics is paramount for most companies, some $100k+ job seekers are employing increasingly deceitful tactics to try to secure opportunities. Furthermore, our increased dependence on the internet has created a new threat; it seems that criminals are now finding innovative ways to take advantage of six-figure professionals when they are at their most vulnerable.

FYI, no jobboard is better than TheLadders.com at scanning corporate career sites for $100K jobs and posting the jobs we find that we think are $100K on our site . Simplyhired and Indeed.com are job aggregation sites just like TheLadders.com and though they are free they copy all types of jobs leaving it to the jobseeker to determine which jobs might carry a $100K+ compensation package. TheLadders.com saves the jobseekers time and for that we charge a nominal monthly fee for our service.
