If you are wondering about all the hype surrounding The Secret, I want to let you know that there is some truth to it all. The Secret is the “law of attraction” and here is how it works:

• ASK: Know what you want and ask for it.
• BELIEVE: Feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way.
• RECEIVE: Be open to receiving it.

Here is my story. It all happened so soon.

We just lost our beloved dog Chipper, the sister of little Patches, who is sadly, also gone to doggie heaven. They were the loves of our lives.

It’s only been a month and we certainly are not in the market for two new dogs already. So, we innocently called the Ontario Humane Society to place a donation.

We ASKED. Thinking that it might take months to find the perfect fit, I mentioned in passing that if they ever come across two difficult-to-place dogs that needed to be rescued, we might be a good fit.

We BELIEVED. We indicated that, ideally, we would love to take in a couple of Border Collie mix sisters that really need a home together. We knew that it would be difficult to find that exact match, but why not give it a try.

We RECEIVED. To our utter amazement, the next response we got was “Why don’t you come in right away? Gracie and Kellie are not ready to see anyone yet, but since you are such good friends of the Humane Society, we would like to see if you would be willing to take them.”

We are now the proud parents of two, new rambunctious, cute, and funny Border Collie cross sisters who really needed a home. 

Here is what I have learnt though this process: Successful people seem to live with a positive attitude. These type of people inspire us because they seem to attain their wishes and dreams. Their enthusiasm is infectious. They know how to get things done.  They are not afraid of asking. They believe in themselves. And, ultimately they receive many blessings — some expected and some very unexpected, indeed.

Take advantage of The Secret. You can create a story of your own. Think about what you want to attain. Then ASK, BELIEVE, and RECEIVE.
